Manchester & District Referees Society wants you!

Manchester & District Rugby Union Referee's Society

Wanted! New Referees

Whatever you desire, there’s never been a better time to take up refereeing rugby

Whatever your aspirations M&DURS can help you

We aim to offer support to the Game at every level. The vast majority of our members happily remain amateurs and officiate locally, whilst some succeed in rising to the professional arm of the Game, working at the regional and national levels (and a small but significant number, at international level!). If you are committed, motivated and good enough you are guaranteed to rise quickly regardless of age, gender or creed.

In conjunction with the RFU’s KYBO (Keep Your Boots On) initiative, the Society is offering an induction package to all new referees who successfully take up the whistle this season.

As well as the aforementioned support, on becoming a member of the Society, unqualified referees who have passed the RFU Level 2 Refereeing Course will receive a:

  • Whistle
  • Jersey (a Society jersey badge will be awarded when a refereeing Grade is attained) pair of shorts & socks
  • Touch Judge flags

After being awarded a refereeing Grade and thereby accepted into full membership, the new referee will be entitled to other items of kit being allocated to the existing, active Society referees, i.e.:

  • This season’s Society jersey
  • Society fleece

In addition, after completing 10 Society refereeing appointments this season, the referee will further receive a:

  • Society kit bag
  • Society jersey, shorts & socks Society tie
  • plus, s/he will be entitled to a reimbursement, by the Society, of the cost of the RFU Level 2 course fee, providing this has been passed in the last 12 months and has not been funded by another body
