Lancashire U17 – 2018/19 - Training Squad for Friday 22 March 2019 at Trafford Metrovicks
The coaching team would like to thank the players who attended Development Day and the Lancashire clubs, schools, colleges, coaches and parents for their commitment, support and patience. We would also like to thank Myerscough College for their continued support and for providing the use of the 3G pitch, grass pitch and excellent facilities.
The high standard of performance by the players attending Development Day made selection of the first Training Squad a very tough challenge for the coaching team but we are satisfied that we have selected a strong, competitive squad with depth and talent. The players have been selected following a rigorous selection process consisting of the Assesment Day, Development Day, watching them play for their club, school or college and discussions with their coaches. Selected players are encouraged to work hard on their core skills and fitness because no place is guaranteed in the Training Squad.
Mindful of the above, it is still a significant achievement to be in the Wider Development Squad so, if you have not been selected for the Training squad on this occasion, work hard on your fitness and all aspects of your game because players develop at different rates at different times and injuries and unavailability are inevitable. Some players received feedback at Development Day. Those who didn’t will receive their feedback shortly. Please keep in contact and continue to improve and enjoy your rugby.
1st Training Session
Our first training session will be held on grass at Trafford Metrovicks RUFC, Finny Bank Road, Sale, Manchester M33 6LR on Friday 22 March 2019. The list of players selected for the Training Squad is attached to this announcement.
The selected players are required to register by 18.30 for a prompt start to the session and are to confirm their attendance by Friday 15 March 2019 to our Team Manager, Ian Jones, at jones_ian66@yahoo.co.uk (its an underscore after ‘jones’). It is very important for the planning of the session that we know who will be attending. If you are unable to attend or train, we will need to call up another player in to the Training Squad.
Players are responsible for bringing their own training kit, appropriate footwear for the grass pitch and water bottles.
We have already been made aware of the clash between Warrington’s Junior Colts League Cup match and our first fixture away to East Midlands on Sunday 24 March 2019 so please contact our team manager, Ian Jones, if any other matches clash with our first fixture.
